Phylis Nicolayevsky was born and raised in Forest Hills, NY. She graduated from NYU and enjoyed a career in fashion until she married Yasha and moved to Mexico City where their three children were born.In Mexico, she attended the local university where she studied Anthropology and Mexican Art.
Phylis and Yasha were great supporters of the local art community as well as being involved in Jewish charities. After moving to Beverly Hills in 1976, Phylis continued to focus on art as well as her children and their schools. She and Yasha are founders of The Children's Museum and MOCA, where Phylis actively volunteered her time as well. When her children all graduated from college, Phylis decided to return to school and received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Graduate Institute. After graduating, she remained at CGI working in their counseling center. Currently, Phylis is becoming involved in Yasha's firm learning about real estate issues and transactions.
