Lynne Deutch has combined family, career, and community service effectively. Her career began in retailing and continued when she moved from New York to Detroit and married Irwin, her husband of thirty-four years. While raising three sons in Michigan she founded a public relations firm that had a diverse client base. Lynne held leadership positions in the American Cancer Society and was involved with The Detroit Institute of Arts. After traveling with her husband to China prior to its recognition, she promoted relations with that country by making presentations to civic and school groups.
The Deutches moved to California in 1980. Lynne became an active participant in the cultural life of Los Angeles assuming leadership positions at the Los Angeles Children's Museum and becoming a Founder at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, a member of The Amazing Blue Ribbon at the Los Angeles Music Center, a member of the President's Circle and Founder of The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and a board member of the Modern and Contemporary Art Council at that museum. Lynne Deutch Ltd, a corporate and retail gift business she founded resulted in her being recognized as one of the nation's most creative retailers. The catalogues she designed became a standard for the industry.
Lynne has been proactive in political causes, and at present is a board member of the Women`s Leadership Forum and the Democratic National Committee. As and advocate for mental health she has worked closely with Tipper Gore. In June 2000, she helped launch the National Mental Health Awareness Campaign, in Washington, DC, on whose board she serves.
